“Orphan Black” season 5 is confirmed to be the last season of the show. Main actress Tatiana Maslany has teased fans on what to expect from the Canadian TV series’ finale.

“Orphan Black” started with a woman named Sarah Manning (Maslany). She was in a train station, talking to someone over the phone, until she noticed an odd woman. To Manning’s horror, she witnessed the woman, named Beth Childs (Maslany), commit suicide. As if the event wasn’t shocking enough, Manning discovered Childs had the same face as her. This was the start of the complex web of clones to which Manning is set to solve.

The latest episodes of “Orphan Black” showed several characters in dire situations. Manning even got into a serious accident, and it is unclear how she will survive her grave injuries in season 5. This started the speculation that the clone or the clones could die in the upcoming episodes.

“It’s tough because you’ve fallen in love with these characters,” Maslany told reporters during an interview at San Diego Comic Convention. “And they seem fragile at this point. I don’t want the characters to die. But if the story does, you know, then they could.”

Maslany also revealed certain storylines involving her other characters, Helena and Alison. As reported by Movie News Guide, the 30-year-old actress said that the two characters are going to have a more comfortable start in season 5 compared to previous seasons and compared to other characters that are in a tough spot.

Meanwhile, “Orphan Black” creators John Fawcett and Graeme Manson disclosed that the plot on any major deaths in the upcoming season is still being discussed. Instead of saying anything specific about the plotline, the co-creators of the sci-fi thriller drama promised fans to deliver the best conclusion to the series.

“Orphan Black” started in 2013, giving breakout star Maslany two Emmy nominations for her multiple roles in the show. The cast includes Maslany, Jordan Gavaris, Ari Millen, Skyler Wexler, Maria Doyle Kennedy, Kevin Hanchard, Evelyne Brochu, Kristian Bruun and Josh Vokey. Joining the cast in the final season would be Patrick Adams, who will reprise his role as Helena’s love interest.

“Orphan Black” season 5 is expected to start airing in April 2017 on BBC. The show airs on SBS channel in Australia. Season 1 can reportedly be streamed on Quickflix.
