Spoiler Alert: This review recaps the highlights of "The Originals" Season 1 Episode 1 titled "Always and Forever."

Klaus Mikaelson searching for a witch named Jane-Anne Deveraux in New Orleans.

Klaus declared that he will not be hunted again so he decided to go searching for a witch named Jane-Anne Deveraux (Malaya Rivera Drew) in New Orleans. There is a mysterious connection between the two characters as well as the reason why Klaus wants to find her. Klaus' search for the witch led him to cross paths with his protégé Marcel Gerard (Charles Michael Davis).

Marcel: The new "King" of New Orleans.

The premiere episode revealed Klaus having a good friendship with his protégé Marcel, but all of that changed when Marcel showed Klaus who is now in charge of New Orleans after he tracked down Jane-Anne and killed her. According to Marcel, one of his rules states that witches are not allowed to do magic and when they break the rule, they die. The new "King" of New Orleans was able to find out that Jane-Anne performed a magic spell on werewolf Hayley Marshall (Phoebe Tonkin) who was searching for clues on her family history.

Powerful witch Sophie Deveraux.

Marcel sent his day walkers to keep an eye on Jane-Anne's sister, Sophie Deveraux, and kill her if she ever performed magic spells to avenge the death of her sister. Elijah Mikaelson, who was searching for his brother Klaus to help him, saved Sophie from the unnecessary attack.

"What business does your family have with my brother?" Elijah asked Sophie. It was revealed afterwards that werewolf Hayley is pregnant with Klaus' child and Sophie, the leader of an underground coven, threatens to kill Hayley unless Klaus helps the witches in taking down Marcel and his reign.

Elijah convinces Klaus to accept Sophie's deal.

Elijah saw Hayley's pregnancy as a way to start over again as the Original family being together "always and forever." He tries to convince Klaus, who took the pregnancy news as a deception, to help Sophie with her plan on Marcel to keep Hayley and the child safe.

The Klaus - Marcel confrontation.

Klaus refused to deal with Hayley's pregnancy and Sophie's deal but his confrontation with Marcel made him change his mind. Marcel further emphasized the power that he currently has in New Orleans and Klaus had the desire to take that back since the Original vampire is known to having a bad temper and the inability to take orders from someone else.

"Every king needs an heir," Klaus tells Elijah in one of their brotherly talk, indicating that he has absorbed the pregnancy news he received and Sophie's plan. In the end, Klaus accepted Sophie's deal that he will become an ally in ending Marcel's rule in order to protect Hayley and the child as well as having control once again in New Orleans.

In an Entertainment Weekly report, English actor Joseph Morgan opened up about his character Klaus and his relationship with Hayley which appears to be an important highlight in the new "The Originals" TV series. "I agree they had a connection and a moment of bonding over their similar feelings about their past or their lack of parental attention," Mr Morgan was quoted as saying.

The actor further added: "I don't think it was a romantic moment really. I don't feel like it was as if that was the start of them falling in love or something. She feels a little bit more like part of the family now. Klaus is most certainly protective over her, or at least protective over the child she carries, which by default is her. So we can expect the family to take her under their wing certainly, look out for her a little more, protect her."

"The Originals" airs every Tuesday night at 8 p.m. on The CW network.
