A 31-year-old man was killed in a shooting at a downtown restaurant in Canada. The man has been identified as Tariq Mohammed.

The incident took place at Garden Restaurant in Chestnut and Dundas streets at around 4 a.m. on Sunday. In addition to the death of the Mississauga man, the Sunday shooting left a couple of women injured as well, CBC News reported. According to Det.-Sgt. Gary Giroux, a group of around six people, including Mohammed, were sitted at a table. An altercation started between a woman and a man at the table and some other men in the restaurant. Things apparently heated up as at least one man pulled out a gun. He started firing inside the restaurant. Mohammed was shot numerous times at close range, while two women were each hit by a single shot.

The injured women, who are believed to be in their 20s, were sent to hospital. Their wounds are reportedly serious. However, they are not in a life-threatening condition.

According to investigators, surveillance footage will be collected to learn further about the situation. In addition to the restaurant footages, CCTV footages will also be collected from Muzik night club where the victims had visited before coming to the restaurant, CTV News reported.

Toronto Police have identified two suspects in the incident. They were last seen running to the south on Chestnut Street. One of the suspects, believed to be the shooter, is described as a black man aged in his 20s. He has a lanky build and is around 5'10" to 5'11'' tall. The man was wearing toque and a black hoodie. The second suspect is also described as black in his 20s. He is shorter than the other man and has a stocky build. He has bulging eyes with hair in cornrows to the neck. He is also wearing a dark-coloured hoodie that had a logo or writing on the front. It is unclear if the suspects and the victims had known each other before the incident.

Several witnesses have already been interrogated. More than 30 customers were present at the restaurant when the shooting took place.
