OnePlus is going to unveil its second smartphone for 2015 very soon and rumours claim it will be called OnePlus X. The announcement about the new phone is expected to take place on Oct. 12.

OnePlus CEO Liu Zuohu recently added a teaser image on OnePlus’ Weibo page. The picture seems to be a snapshot of a map in which two lines intersect with each other to form an “X.”

A report from Gizmo China said the upcoming OnePlus handset will be probably called OnePlus X. The OnePlus X handset is considered the compact edition of the OnePlus 2 handset launched last July.

According to the International Business Times, OnePlus will hold a launch event for the OnePlus X handset in Bengaluru, India. The unveil event will be held Oct. 12 and the company has already sent out invitations to the media.

As for specs, the OnePlus X will feature a 5-inch full HD display that will deliver a pixel density of 441 ppi. The device will be powered by a MediaTek MT6795 chipset (also known as Helio X10). The SoC features a 64-bit octa-core processor gunning at 2.2 GHz and PowerVR G6200 graphics.

The Helio X10 chip will be assisted by 2 GB of RAM. The native storage will be 32 GB. It will have a 13 MP rear camera while the selfie snapper will be a 5 MP.

OnePlus X will arrive preinstalled with Android 5.1.1 or Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS. It will be also have connectivity features like USB Type-C and NFC. The device will be equipped with a massive battery of 3,100 mAh capacity. Speculation is the handset will be available for $249 (AU$342).
