Even though considered as an underdog, the relatively new flagship killer OnePlus One is reportedly one of the most surprising smartphones of 2014. According to reports, a total of roughly 1 million OnePlus One units have been sold thus far, even with a botched up purchase model that requires invitations to purchase the handset. However, now, the tech firm is apparently gearing up to release the successor OnePlus 2, alongside a new inexpensive smartphone.

The publication Bloomberg has apparently made a visit to OnePlus' headquarters in Shenzhen, China. OnePlus is reportedly expecting to ship 3 to 5 million smartphones by the end of 2015, followed by a whopping 10 million in 2016. On the other hand, the company also told Bloomberg that, the successor of OnePlus One dubbed OnePlus 2 will likely be launched in the third quarter of 2015.

To top it off, the company will also be releasing a new, low-cost smartphone towards the end of 2015. Even though, no information has been released on the cheaper OnePlus handset, the company Director Carl Pei has apparently confirmed that the new low-cost device could target a different set of audience that appreciates “design over specs,” Phone Arena writes.

Furthermore, according to Canalys, OnePlus’ biggest market at this point is reportedly Europe and North America. These two regions account for 52 percent of the total market share. This is reportedly followed by East Asia with 39 percent and India with 7 percent market share. Interestingly, the Chinese tech giant has made apparent that India is the "next big focus," NDTV notes.

Meanwhile, Pete Lau, OnePlus co-founder and chief executive officer, apparently said the following in an earlier interview picked up by Bloomberg: “We are going to be a lot more aggressive in our international expansion. Some companies look at overall sales volume. We look more at word of mouth.”

Moving on to the reported OnePlus 2 specifications, the handset is believed to come with a fingerprint scanner and a microSD card slot, which are missing in the predecessor. Under the hood, the smartphone is expected to be powered by an octa-core (Qualcomm Snapdragon 810) processor. Speaking of OnePlus 2 price, even though, there is no official information available at this point, the device is expected to be expensive, notes Phone Arena. In comparison, the predecessor OnePlus One sets the buyers back by only $299 for an unlocked 16 GB version. Nonetheless, the company has not confirmed the OnePlus 2 specifications thus far.
