In 2015, OnePlus is expected to release not one but two smarpthones. A successor model for the OnePlus flagship of 2014 allegedly known as OnePlus 2 and a cheaper smartphone is expected to be released this year. On April 17, the company made an announcement through its official Twitter account that it will organise a launch event on April 20. The invitation reads, “From here on out, anything could happen. #NeverSettle.” However, it does not reveal the name of the product that will be unveiled.

Even though OnePlus 2 is one of the most awaited devices of 2015, it may not get unveiled on April 20 as it is expected to get released in the third quarter of this year, the International Business Times reports. However, GSM Arena speculates that the Chinese manufacturer may reveal something about the device on the said date.

GSM Arena further adds that in the previous year, OnePlus flagship’s development was announced in March and the handset was revealed in April. However, the shipping of the device started in June last year.

Phone Arena highlights that in 2014, OnePlus sold 1 million units of OnePlus One handsets even though it was mostly sold on invitation basis. Citing BloomBerg, Phone Arena further adds that this year, the company is expected to sell 3 to 5 million units and 1o million devices in the coming year.

According to another report from Phone Arena, the OnePlus 2 will be pricier than the 2014 flagship, which is priced as low as $299 for the unlocked model. According to the IBTimes report, during a recent Ask Me Anything, or AMA, session on Reddit, Carl Pei, the CEO of OnePlus, said that the OnePlus One successor will be loaded with amazing specs. It will reportedly be powerful enough to take on the major flagships of 2015 such as the Galaxy S6, the HTC One M9 and the unannounced iPhone.

OnePlus 2 is rumoured to come with 5.5-inch Quad HD screen, Snapdragon 810 SoC, 4 GGB of RAM, a massive 3,300 mAh battery and marvelous metal construction. As far as the handset is concerned, it will be a cheaper model of OnePlus 2. It will be launched with the moniker OnePlus One Lite, reports Android Guys via Droid Pile.
