The remaining members of popular boyband One Direction are set on making their mark as a foursome – they have recently confirmed their appearance on “The Late Late Show With James Corden” in its next week’s episode. The lads promised “a few surprises” up their sleeves when they join the show’s host, who is also their close friend, in what appears to be their first public guesting post-Zayn Malik's departure.

Liam Payne expressed excitement to be on Corden’s show, revealing that the host is one of their best mates and that they were proud of the “massive success” of his recently launched show in the U.S.

"We are currently working on a few surprises with James and his team that we hope our fans will enjoy," he teased to People, assuring fans that it was going to be one “great night.” Corden added, "I love the boys, I always have. I'm so excited to have some fun with them on the show!"

Payne will be gracing Corden's show alongside Harry Styles, Niall Horan and Louis Tomlinson, and it will be their first guesting in a U.S. show sans Malik, who announced his departure in March this year. One Direction’s last late-night appearance as a five-member group was back in December last year on “The Tonight Show,” Entertainment Weekly reports. The group decided to carry on even after Malik’s exit, with Payne suggesting that the band will be better than ever. Now, their debut as a foursome on Corden’s show seemed like the perfect start.

The boys will also be kicking off the American leg of their “On the Road Again” worldwide tour in July and are currently working on their fifth studio album. Payne has previously teased their new sound late last month, saying that the songs they were working on were going really well so far and that they were trying to put an Oasis and Ed Sheeran feel on the whole album.

Meanwhile, Malik has already made his first public appearance since leaving 1D early in April. He attended the Asian Awards in London and thanked his former band mates in an acceptance speech, saying that everything he has done with the boys will stay with him for the rest of his life, Time reports. Tune in to “The Late Late Show with James Corden” on CBS on May 14 to catch the boys of 1D.
