For One Direction fans, the departure of Zayn Malik has been a big shock. The former 1D dream boy is all set to venture out alone into the world. Zayn has completely transformed himself with an edgier look and is getting ready for his solo career.

Zayn was one of the popular members of the hugely popular UK boy band. He was the first one to move out of the band, and has hence partnered with other artists to kick-start a solo career. Zayn has moved on and removed all references of One Direction from his social media pages. His twitter handle was “@zaynmalik1D” and it now says “@zaynmalik” and this has created a social media frenzy.

His fans are heartbroken for this seeming betrayal. The hashtag “#youwillalwaysbezaynmalik1D” is trending where hurt messages have been posted by thousands of One Directioners, or what the fans call themselves. Zayn has also removed all references of “One Direction” form his other social media profiles.

It is not only Zayn who is moving on. Even the management of One Direction has posted a picture of a Zayn-less One Direction and removed all mention of him from the band's profile. This happened within three weeks after his departure from the band. All the Twitter, Facebook and official website pages have been changed to reflect the current four members, with all references to Zayn's presence have been removed.

Zayn and One Direction has evoked extreme reaction from their fans and it even reached Steven Hawking. According to Buzzfeed, Hawking hilariously responded to a young fan by saying “there is definite proof of multiple universes and somewhere outside our universe lies another universe. In that parallel universe, Zayn Malik is still in 1D.” For millions of Zayn's fans, his deliberate move towards a career which completely takes him off the trajectory of One Direction is heartbreaking.
