Novak Djokovic has said that it may be time for the Barclays ATP World Tour Finals to be held in other countries. According to the Serb, staging the event in other areas of the world would be a great way to promote the sport of tennis.

According to a news report by BBC Sports, Djokovic stated that London has successfully hosted the season-ending event in the last six years. However, he feels that it is time to move the event to other countries after the end of the contract in 2015.

The Barclays ATP World Tour Finals was first staged in London in 2009. The tournament has previously been held in Shanghai (2002, 2005-2008), Houston (1976, 2003-2004), Sydney (2001), Lisbon (2000), Hanover (1996-1999), Frankfurt (1990-1995), New York City (1977-1989), Stockholm (1975), Melbourne (1974), Boston (1973), Barcelona (1972), Paris (1971) and Tokyo (1970).

Meanwhile, Djokovic, who is a three-time defending champion at the ATP World Tour Finals, has defeated 2014 Australian Open champion and third seed Stanislas Wawrinka on Nov. 13 in straight sets, 6-3, 6-0. The Serb is close to make the semifinals after his victory over Wawrinka in his second round-robin match in Group B.

"I definitely didn't expect it, but hoped that I can play this way again and the match result can go this way for me," Djokovic said after the match via ATP's official site. "Obviously, Stan wasn't feeling his best today, made a lot of unforced errors and had a low percentage of first serves in."

Djokovic, on the other hand, had good satisfaction with his performance during the match because he was able to focus on his game and deliver points. He added that Wawrinka, who broke him at the start, played remarkably well in the beginning. However, Djokovic didn't get frustrated. He kept his cool, and as a result, he was able to demonstrate an amazing performance.

Djokovic will face Tomas Berdych next. It will be their second meeting in 2014. Djokovic and Berdych last played in the finals of the 2014 China Open, where Djokovic claimed an easy straight sets victory, 6-0, 6-2. The Serb leads their head-to-head record, 16-2.
