Australian actress Nicole Kidman, who is currently based in the United States, has called for Americans to support President-elect Donald Trump. The actress has stressed the fact that Trump is now the president of the free world and the country has to support him.

In a red carpet interview, Kidman said the country needs to support whoever the president is. “That is what the country is based on. And however that happened, it happened, and let’s go,” she said.

Kidman admitted that she is usually reserved in commenting politically, and that she is more committed to women’s issues. “I’m always reticent to start commenting politically, I’ve never done it in terms of America or Australia,” she said.

The “Moulin Rouge” star has also talked about the marriage equality delay in Australia. She clarified that she’s in favour of “people [who] love each other and want that to be acknowledged legally.” She defended her claim, explaining that marriage is a protection and a way of saying that a person is committed, which she said is a wonderful thing.

The 49-year-old actress was born in Hawaii, but was raised in Australia. She holds dual US/Australian citizenship. Kidman is currently residing with her family in Nashville, Tennessee. She’s married to Keith Urban and they have two children.

In relation to Kidman’s family, the actress has shared that she and Urban have been trying to conceive, but are having a tough time. “Keith and I would love to have more babies. My grandmother gave birth to my mother at 49. I would be beyond happy and just welcome it with open arms,” she told The Mail on Sunday’s Event magazine.

The actress has shared that of all the things that have happened in her life, being a mother has been an “overriding thing that has changed everything and made it better.”
