Australian actress Nicole Kidman is starting the New Year as the cover star of Vogue Australia for 2017. The edition is captured by fashion photographer Will Davidson. Christine Centenera is in charge of the styling aspect which she selected as cover from Louis Vuitton.

It is the second exclusive Vogue cover shoot for Kidman. In the magazine, she openly talks about her love of being a mother and how she knew that she always wanted to have children. She also revealed that it was the simple promise by husband Keith Urban that convinced her to set up a home in the music capital of the US.

“I was living out of suitcases and he was like, ‘I can give you a home babe.' And I was like, ‘you give me a home, and I will move to Nashville,’” Kidman tells Vogue Australia. She now lives there with husband Keith and two daughters Sunday Rose and Faith Margaret.

Kidman’s latest role in her upcoming film "Lion" is also one close to home. She is playing Sue Brierley, a mother whose adopted son is in search of his birth mother. "Once the bond is there between a mother and a child, the biological part of it is sort of the least important part. I think when that bond forms, it’s astounding how powerful it is,” Kidman revealed. She added that she was able to relate to the story of Sue Brierley after reading the script for "Lion." She realised that she too had the feeling of wanting to adopt.

Kidman and ex-husband Tom Cruise have two adopted children, Isabella and Connor. “I always knew I’d adopt; I just always wanted a child. I suppose the thing that drew me to Lion was that strong maternal theme that runs through the entire film and the power of that,” Kidman expressed.

"Lion" will have its Australian premiere at Sydney’s State Theatre on Dec. 19. Kidman will be walking the red carpet with co-star Dev Patel.
