A new “Transformers: Devastation” video showcasing the various special moves of the Autobots was released by Activision and developer Platinum Games. The gameplay video also shows the five playable Autobots in action: Optimus Prime, Bumblebee, Grimlock, Sidewsipe and Wheeljack. Each Autobot’s special attack is unique to the character, so it seems like all of them will play differently from one another.

The players will be able to use the Autobots in both their mech forms and their vehicle forms. Surprisingly, Newsarama has confirmed that the vehicle forms can also be used for combat, and the trailer below shows off some of the car combat. The only exception seems to be Grimlock, who turns into a terrifying dinosaur instead of a truck or jet.

Each Autobot in the game has a unique set of weapons and combos at their disposal. Bumblebee uses his fists to take out the bad guys, while Grimlock has a massive hammer at his disposal. Some of the combos also have the characters turning into cars and ramming themselves into opponents before turning back into mech forms and continuing the combo.

Coming Soon has also confirmed that some of the original voice actors from the 1980s “Transformers” cartoon will be reprising their roles for the “Devastation” video game. The most noteworthy of the actors is Peter Cullen, who will once again lend his booming voice for Optimus Prime just like he did in the original show and the Michael Bay films.

“Devastation” is only the second “Transformers” game to come to the PS4 and Xbox One. The first “Transformers” game to hit the current generation of consoles was “Rise of the Spark,” which was more related to the live-action films rather than the animated series.

“Transformers: Devastation” will be coming to the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on Oct. 6. The game is part of the impressive catalogue of games that Platinum Games is making, as the developer is also working on “Star Fox Zero” for the Nintendo Wii U. This looks to be a big year for the developer and a good one for fans of “Transformers.”
