Nintendo’s ink-based shooter for the Wii U is a hit among fans of all ages. Critics have even said that “Splatoon” is one of the best things that have happened to current gen shooters. Nintendo’s consistent move to make the game better could have played a big role in its success, and with an upcoming event the game may even reach out to a different fan-base.

Nintendo and toy manufacturer Hasbro have announced recently that they are collaborating for a special event for Wii U’s “Splatoon.” Hasbro is reportedly bringing both Autobots and Decepticons in the city of Inkopolis. This is part of a Splatfest in-game event where players will choose which side they’re on in the Transformers rivalry.

Nintendo said that during the Splatfest, players are going to wear a special T-shirt that shows which Transformers team has their allegiance. It added that the ink for each team will also be changed, based on the two Transformers teams.

The special Splatfest will last for 24 hours. During the allotted timeframe, players will go on a battle for the highest Turf War wins. The side with the highest cumulative score will be rewarded with a purse of the game’s in-game currency called Super Sea Snails. These can be used for a lot of things, including upgrading in-game gear.

Meanwhile, according to a report by Gamespot, the game has sold over 1.6 million worldwide. The Splatfest is expected to be filled with action and competitive battles.

The Transformers-themed “Splatoon” Splatfest event will begin on August 28 at 9 p.m. PDT. Players still have a long way to go before the event, so there’s still time to practice. With such a good prize at stake, players are expected to give it their all during the event.
