“NCIS: Los Angeles” will be paying tribute to one of its dear members who passed away recently. Reports say that the cast and crew are already setting up for a tribute to Miguel Ferrer who succumbed to throat cancer in January 19, 2017. This said episode is set to air on March 5.

Ferrer had been on the show since 2012 as NCIS: Los Angeles assistant director Owen Granger. In this upcoming tribute, he will be honoured with a version of “Knocking On Heaven’s Door” by Guns N’ Roses, which will be played by Ferrer’s band, The Jenerators, and sung by the actor himself. The episode will end with a remembrance title card in honour of Ferrer. The actor was the son of singer Rosemary Clooney and actor Jose Ferrer. He also happens to be first cousins with fellow veteran actor George Clooney.

The Jenerators also includes Bill Murny from “Lost in Space,” who happens to be responsible for giving Ferrer his first TV role for the short-lived series titled “Sunshine” which aired in the mid 70s.

Miguel Ferrer passed away at the age of 61 after losing a tough battle with cancer. He left behind an amazing career that spanned across TV and film. In his 37 years of acting, he was loved by his fans in his many roles in “Twin Peaks,” “CHiPS,” “Crossing Jordan” and many more.

The actor will have a posthumous appearance on the episode of “NCIS: Los Angeles” in the episode which will air on February 19, writes Entertainment Weekly. This episode was filmed before the veteran actor died.

Although it is quite strange that the series will be waiting until March until they pay proper respects to Miguel Ferrer, viewers have to remember that his role on the show is not yet over as of this point. Therefore, it could be best to wait until his role finally wraps up. Since the upcoming episode was filmed before Ferrer’s death, such is presumably his final appearance on the show.

His role on “NCIS: Los Angeles” is not the only final project that kept him busy before he succumbed to illness. Some of his iconic roles include being FBI Agent Albert Rosenfield in “David Lynch” and a role in the cult murder mystery “Twin Peaks.” In fact, according to Deadline, Ferrer reprised his role last time for Showtime’s upcoming “Twin Peaks” revival, which is already set to air in March 21, 2017.

“NCIS: Los Angeles” airs Sundays at 8 p.m. on CBS in the US. It also airs every Tuesday at 9:30 p.m. on Channel TEN in Australia.
