'Grey's Anatomy' stars Ellen Pompeo, Camilla Luddington channel Queen Bey in funny pregnancy photoshoot

Camilla Luddington of “Grey’s Anatomy” is currently expecting her first child with actor Matt Alan. Very recently, she and her friends on the hit TV series decided to copy Beyonce’s famous pregnancy photo just for the fun of it.

Earlier in February 2017, Beyonce posted an image on Instagram, showing her belly bump and announced that she is expecting twins with husband Jay-Z. Queen Bey was holding her tummy while wearing a burgundy bra and a veil. She was surrounded by flowers and foliage in the photo. Beyonce’s picture inspired the cast of “Grey’s Anatomy” to feature a funny pregnancy photo shoot, starring the 33-year-old Luddington.

According to ETOnline, the actress, who plays Jo Wilson on “Grey’s Anatomy,” is expecting a baby girl. She revealed the gender of her baby on social media, adding that she wants her “Tomb Raider in training” to grow up and learn how strong women are. She wishes for her child to be a little warrior who is not afraid to use her voice and stand up for what she believes is right and navigate through life with courage, kindness and empathy towards others.

On Feb. 3, 2017, the “Grey’s Anatomy” actress shared a photo on Instagram, showing how they tried to imitate Beyonce’s pregnancy shoot. Luddington posed the same way as Beyonce, and wearing the same bra and with an identical backdrop of greens and flowers. She also had a couple of assistants who helped her in the shoot, one of whom is “Grey’s Anatomy” star Ellen Pompeo. Luddington captioned that they were arguing whether the photo shoot was really necessary.

According to Billboard, it was unusual to have Meredith Grey (Ellen Pompeo) direct a maternity photo shoot for Jo Wilson. The two had a love-hate relationship on “Grey’s Anatomy,” with Wilson dubbing the latter “Medusa.” The two are apparently quite close in person, with Pompeo advising her co-star to savour the moment, because it was rare to be pregnant at the same time as Queen Bey.

In the video [watch below] , Luddington seemed hesitant to proceed with the shoot, but Pompeo continued to encourage her, saying that she looked amazing and glowing. Pompeo immediately ordered the veil to be put over Camilla, as the latter continued to look doubtful over the whole idea.

The entire photo session was filmed and directed by “Grey’s Anatomy” executive producer Debbie Allen. Beyonce has not yet commented on the funny imitation of her pregnancy shoot.

“Grey’s Anatomy” is currently airing Season 13 on Thursdays on ABC in the US. In Australia, the show airs on Channel Seven.
