The New York Yankees suffered a big blow after learning that slugger Jacoby Ellsbury and pitcher Michael Pineda are dealing with injuries, a league insider disclosed on Tuesday.

Ellsbury, who is hitting .312 with 11 homers in his first season as a Bronx Bomber, is experiencing soreness in his left hand and could be out for two more games. Ellsburry already underwent X-Ray examination and the result was negative.

"It's just been bothering him for a few days, but he's been playing through it,'' Yankees manager Joe Girardi told ESPN. "The test came back good, so we know there's no structural damage. It's just been sore."

Pineda, who is currently serving a 10-game suspension after a pine tar was discovered on his neck, will not pitch against the Los Angeles Angels on Monday because of the pain in his back.

"The good thing is, it's not in his shoulder, it's in his lat (latissimus dorsi, in the back)," Girardi said. "He threw the first inning and felt a little stiffness, tightness, and he pulled himself out."
