Diabetes drains the finances of diabetics and their families which is why Australians with type 2 diabetes are protesting the planned removal of government subsidy on sugar test strips. An alleged cure, which is what a Mexican doctor claims to have discovered, would go a long way in cutting costs of buying glucose monitoring devices, maintenance medicine and visits to the doctor.

Essentialhealthadvisor reports that Mexican doctor Jorge Gonzalez Ramirez, founder of the Asociacion Mexicana para el Diagnostico y Trataiento de Enfermedades Autoimunes, has developed an alternative treatment for diabetes using autohemotherapy. It involves drawing five cubic centimetres of blood from the patient, the blood is mixed with 55 millilitres of saline and cooled in 5 degrees Celsius.

Since the average temperature of blood in 37 degrees when drawn, when it is cooled to 5 degrees, a thermal shock happens which corrects genetic and metabolic mistakes, he says. Ramirez then injects the mixture into the patient.

He says the procedure gradually corrects problems linked with diabetes. But the vaccine lasts only for 60 days, and the treatment good for one year. Ramirez explains, “This vaccine is more than just a drug; It is a medical practice. We see it as an alternative, a possible solution to stop chronic degenerative complications: stroke, hearing loss, amputation, kidney failure and blindness.”

Ramirez established the association in 1998 to give patients “a new and effective way to improve their quality of life” by treating the patient holistically and not only about his disease. He says the vaccine appears to be a promising solution to the progression of diabetes and could even reverse its effects.

Researchers of the association also claim the alternative treatment could be used in adult and children diabetics with no side effects.

However, Cofepris, the Federal Commission for Protection Against Sanitary Risk, Mexico’s health agency, is a press conference on Nov 25, 2015, in Mexico City, closed on Nov 27 the Live Your Diabetes Foundation and the Association for the Diagnosis and Treatment of Autoimmune Diseases. Mexico News Daily reports that Salvador Chacon Ramirez and Association President Lucila Zarate Ortega credits Ramirez with developing the treatment.

But Mike Arriola, director of Cofepris, warns the foundation is not a real foundation but was set up to deceive the public. He says the government would file criminal charges against the two groups. Arriola adds the vaccine is not officially registered and selling it in Mexico is illegal.
