Meghan Markle has already met several members of the royal family, including Prince William, Kate Middleton and their children, Prince George and Princess Charlotte. However, Prince Harry is yet to introduce his American girlfriend to Queen Elizabeth -- but all this might be remedied soon.

“Meghan is headed to meet the queen on Mother’s Day,” a source told the Daily Star. In the United Kingdom, Mother’s Day is scheduled for March 26, which some have argued is a little soon. The publication suspected that the reason for the rush is that Harry is looking to propose to the “Suits” actress in a few months.

Harry is reportedly looking to pop the question soon after Kate’s sister, Pippa Middleton, walks down the aisle. Pippa’s wedding to hedge fund manager James Matthews is scheduled for May, to which Harry has been invited. There is no actual support to these engagement claims, but if Meghan were to meet the queen in the next few days, it would indicate just how serious Harry is with her.

The introductions will be pivotal to their relationship, as Harry is bound by law to ask the queen for her permission to marry. The rules have been dialed down since they were first practiced, but Harry is still the fifth in line to the throne. As such, Queen Elizabeth technically has the power to veto an engagement and its succeeding marriage. The Royal Marriages Act 1772 applies to the first six in line.

Meghan’s wedded past is not exactly an issue, as Prince Charles himself divorced and then wed fellow divorcee Camilla Parker Bowles. There is also no current law hindering Harry from marrying someone outside without royal lineage and that does not practice the same religion. At this point, it looks as if only the queen stands in the way of Harry, Meghan and an altar.

“[Meghan’s] already been given the green light from Prince Charles,” the source continued. “The next step is the Prince’s grandmother.”

Harry and Meghan’s relationship seems to be on fast forward, especially when compared to the courtship of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge. Kate did not even meet the queen until 2008 during the wedding of Willaim's cousin Peter Phillips and Autumn Kelly. At that point, Kate and William were already seeing each other for five years.

The news surrounding Harry and Meghan’s pending engagement has not been supported by facts. At this point, everything is simply speculation.
