Manny Pacquiao just sent a booming message to Chris Algieri roughly two weeks ahead of the fight with the undefeated American in Macau on Nov. 23 (Nov. 22 in the United States). According to reports, the Filipino world champion knocked down a sparring partner in the training camp session last Thursday.

inquirer.net, the website for the local daily in the Philippines, stated that Pacquiao put down sparring mate Stan Martyniouk in a recent sparring session.

“According to a Team Pacquiao insider, the eight-division world champion knocked down spar mate Stan [Martyniouk] last Thursday, indicating his readiness to defend the WBO welterweight crown against Chris Algieri on Nov. 23 in Macau,” stated in the article published on Sunday.

The article went on to state that the knock down was caused by a left straight and happened in the middle round of a three round session as per witnesses of the sparring session. Pacquiao also went at it against other spar mates Viktor Postol of Russia and Jose Ramirez of Mexico.

Stan Martyniouk is an American lightweight boxer who was hired by Team Pacquiao to mimic Algieri’s style. At 5-foot-10 he has the same height as Pacquiao’s American opponent. Martyniouk turned pro in 2007 and has since racked up a record of 13 wins (2 knockouts) and 2 losses. He has won three of his last four bouts but is coming off a loss to Ivan Najera last Aug. 9, 2014.

Martyniouk has been enjoying his stay in the Philippines as one of Pacquiao’s training partners. Since arriving in the country since mid-October he has also been giving updates on his ventures as one of the sparring partners of the popular Pacquiao.
