There’s something exciting in store for “Lucifer” fans. The writers have hinted at a possibility that the show may return for season 3.

The hint came in a tweet from the show’s writers. The mid-season finale of season 2 left fans wondering whether the show will be renewed for the third season.

“So many plans for the future,” the writers of Lucifer wrote in a tweet. In another tweet, they said, “We will get to the renewal # later in Season 2!! We still have so much more to come this season!”

Meanwhile, episode 16 of season 2 has been officially named “God Johnson.” A picture of the script, as posted on the official Twitter account, revealed that the episode titled “God Johnson” has been written by Jason Ning and written by Sherwin Shilati.

While the writers have not revealed any further details concerning the episode, rumours from the International Business Times (via Yahoo) reveal it may feature Lucifer Morningstar’s dad. The publication also highlights that Lucifer’s dad, called God, may appear as a man called Johnson.

Lucifer returns with episode 11, titled “Stewardess Interruptus,” of season 2. Lucifer (Tom Ellis) will get to learn from his mother Charlotte (Tricia Helfer) that Chloe Decker (Lauren German) is a miracle child. Chloe, against whom Lucifer has felt vulnerable in the past, has been sent to Earth to cross paths with Lucifer.

Speaking with TV Line, showrunner Ildy Modrovich said Charlotte will strive to send Lucifer back to Hell. Nevertheless, her endeavour to accomplish this could alter the relationship between Lucifer and Chloe. “If Chloe is the key to getting home, and Mom will stop at nothing to get home, will Chloe’s relationship with Lucifer be put in jeopardy? The answer is: of course,” she said.

“Lucifer” season 2 continues with episode 11 on FOX in the US on Jan. 16. Viewers in Australia can watch episode 10 of season 2, "Quid Pro Quo," on Jan. 11 at 8:30 p.m., Jan. 12 at 1:30 p.m. on Jan 13 at 10:30 a.m. on FX.
