For the first time, One Direction cancelled a show when Liam Payne suddenly fell ill while they were scheduled to perform in Belfast, Northern Ireland on Oct. 20, Tuesday. However, it did not take very long for Payne to return to the stage.

The cancellation was announced only minutes before the concert. While entering the venue, thousands of concertgoers were welcomed by video screens scattered across the venue saying the show has been cancelled because Payne was ill and “unable to perform.”

However, one day after the cancellation, One Direction fans were delighted to see that Payne is back. Payne joined his One Direction bandmates Louis Tomlinson, Niall Horan and Harry Styles on stage at the SSE Arena in Belfast on Oct. 21, Wednesday, according to Mirror UK.

As part of their “On The Road Again” tour, the One Direction boys are scheduled to performed a three-night mini-residency at the SSE Arena. Around 30,000 fans bought tickets to One Direction’s shows in Belfast , Belfast Telegraph reported.

On Oct. 14, Payne was in London where he was supposed to collect an award from a British gay lifestyle magazine as Sexiest Man of the Year. However, at the last minute, he had to pull out of the planned appearance due to illness.

Styles was also spotted in London on Oct. 13 wearing a brace on his right foot. Two days before this, he slipped onstage in Birmingham, England and incurred a stress fracture.

Payne, Styles, Tomlinson and Horan are also expected to perform in Newcastle, England. On Oct. 31, the One Direction boys will take a final bow at the Motorpoint Arena in Sheffield.
