LG releases teaser of its dual-display smartphone

Korean electronics giant LG is slated to launch its latest Android smartphone that comes with an unconventional dual display at an event in New York on Oct. 1. To build up the excitement, the company released a teaser video that very briefly reveals the upcoming device.
The unnamed device might be called the LG V10 and is said to sport a secondary display. Analysts believe LG came up with the secondary “ticker” display unit above the main unit in an attempt to make the LG V10 unique in the smartphone arena.
Leaked images of the phone over the past few weeks reveal a dual camera with a small “ticker” screen for app shortcuts. A few days back, Evan Blass tweeted a photo of the latest LG V10 that showcased an auxiliary display. From the image, it appears the ticker has shortcuts for camera, contacts, gallery, messaging and settings.
LG reported lower sales this year even after launching its flagship LG G4. The company expects that the unconventional design specification of the LG V10 will entice customers to buy the new phone.

A 15 second video posted on YouTube doesn’t reveal much about other specifications. But it gives an idea of the new LG smartphone and confirms it will feature a smaller display that might house app shortcuts.
According to GSMArena, the much speculated LG V10 will feature a 5.7-inch QHD display and will be powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 808 chip with 3GB of RAM. It will come with an expandable 64 GB of storage coupled with a microSD card slot. In the camera department, the phone will house a 16 MP rear camera and a 5 MP front snapper along with a fingerprint sensor.
The smartphone passed TENAA earlier this month. According to a report in CNET, only Apple has been consistently growing sales in the declining high-end Android smartphone market so far this year.
In the meantime, search giant Google has announced a press conference on Sept. 29 where it’s expected to unveil the new Nexus 5X built by LG and the bigger Nexus 6P made by Huawei.
