Lewis Hamilton clinched his ninth win of the season at the 2015 Russian Grand Prix held in Sochi on Oct. 11, 2015. The victory means Hamilton is only one win away from claiming his third Formula One (F1) World Drivers’ Championship title.

The 30-year-old Briton seemed destined to cement his legacy in the sport of motor racing as he won the dramatic Russian Grand Prix on Sunday. Starting from the second position on the grid, Hamilton proved that no other driver can get the best of him in wheel-to-wheel combat. After his teammate Nico Rosberg retired early on with a throttle failure, Hamilton stormed away to score another victory for Mercedes.

Hamilton now is 66 points ahead of Ferrari’s Sebastian Vettel (236) and 73 points ahead of Nico (229). With only 100 points left to play for over the season’s remaining four races (United States Grand Prix, Mexican Grand Prix, Brazilian Grand Prix, and Abu Dhabi Grand Prix), Hamilton could win the 2015 F1 World Drivers’ Championship in a fortnight in Austin, Texas.

The British champion may have taken a huge leap towards his third world title, but he doesn’t want to entertain the pressure of winning this season’s championship. He refused to be complacent and said that he wants to savour and enjoy the victory at the moment.

“I’ve got to enjoy what’s going on now and cherish the moment, there are still lots of points available this year,” Hamilton said on Mercedes’ official website. “To get the Constructors’ Championship feels very special and a great feeling to be part of this and to have contributed to the team’s success.”

Hamilton’s recent win was the 42nd of his career. He is second with 1788 points behind Ferrari’s Sebastian Vettel (1854) in terms of all-time career points won. It is almost foreseeable that Hamilton will soon knock Vettel as he is only 75 points behind the four-time German world champion.

Meanwhile, the dominant Mercedes has won their second successive Constructors’ title after Ferrari’s Kimi Raikkonen was relegated from fifth place to eighth. Raikkonen received a 30-second penalty for causing a collision with Williams driver’ Valterri Bottas in the final lap.
