Lenovo teases announcement of new 'gorgeous' smartphone at MWC 2016

Lenovo is set to unveil its new handset at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2016, which kicks off on Feb. 22 in Barcelona, with the Chinese tech giant recently sending out a teaser of a new device that looks like the Lemon 3 launched last week for the Chinese market.

Lenovo India posted a teaser image of a “gorgeous” new device which touts advanced audio quality with a dual-speaker setup.

The released image shows two speakers at the bottom of the back panel. The design of the device looks similar to the Lenovo Lemon 3, indicating the launch of the global variant of the smartphone, as reported by Android Central.

The Lenovo Lemon 3, positioned to compete with Xiaomi Redmi 3, is availble at an extremely affordable price with very impressive hardware specs. Lenovo Lemon 3 is priced at RMB 699 (AU$150).

The smartphone sports a 5-inch Full HD IPS display with a resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels resulting in pixel density of 441ppi.

Powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 616 SoC, the smartphone houses 2GB of RAM and 16GB of inbuilt storage. The internal memory can be expanded via microSD card. There is also an Adreno 405 GPU for graphics.

Other Lemon 3 specs include a 13-megapixel rear camera with LED flash along with a 5-megapixel selfie shooter and a 2750mAh juicer. The battery is rated to deliver up to 15 days of standby time with 12 hours of audio playback, 6.2 hours of video playback and 32 hours of talk time on 2G, as reported by NDTV Gadgets.

In terms of connectivity, the Lemon 3 comes with support for 4G LTE, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, USB 2.0 and GPS options. Running on Android 5.1 Lollipop, the dual-SIM handset is available in Gold and Silver.

In related news, Amazon India has started selling the latest Lenovo Vibe K4 Note at US$177 (AU$249) without registration. The successor of the popular Lenovo K3 Note was launched last month as a flash sale model.

The dual-SIM K4 Note features a 5.5-inch Full HD display, an octa-core MediaTek MT6753 SoC, 3GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage, 13-megapixel rear facing camera and a 3300mAh battery with fast charging.
