Qantas club is again in news owing to its "Dress Guidelines" as it recently barred the former English cricket star Keivin Pietersen over inappropriate footwear.

Pietersen showed up at the Qantas Club Lounge recently in thongs and was refused entry into the lounge. A flabbergasted Pietersen then took to Twitter to loathe the airline for their misdemeanor and lashed out at the company by calling them “Muppets.”

The former captain of England’s cricket team is said to be in transit when he was trying to enter the exclusive area before being rejected an entry owing to his inappropriate footwear This annoyed the cricket star and prompted him to voice his frustration against the airline company on social media.

Pietersen took to Twitter to post against Australia’s national carrier on Sunday.

“I suggest you tell Platinum, First Class fliers that they not allowed in your lounges with flip flops before they fly, @Qantas! Muppets,” Pietersen’s Twitter post read. However, the cricketer refused to let the matter go and continued to brash Qantas in the next tweet which he posted after 10 minutes.

The news spread like a wildfire and Pietersen too had to face criticism for ignoring the norms set by the airlines for its passengers.

The “Qantas Domestic Lounge Dress Guidelines” clearly state that "too casual or inappropriate clothing" will not be allowed inside the lounge.

Qantas on the other hand was quick to respond to Pietersen’s “muppet” post.

"@KP24 It must have been disappointing Kevin. Changes from earlier this year: http://bit.ly/1TKrgMP . Hope to welcome you back again soon,” Qantas’ Twitter post read.

However, it is not the first time that Qantas had to bear the brunt of its passengers for its dress code as the norms at the airline's metropolitan domestic lounges are quite strict. It was in early October when singer Kate Ceberano was kicked out of the Qantas Club Lounge. She also let out her wrath for the airlines on her official Facebook account.

“Disappointed to be evicted from the Qantas Lounge after being a member since 1990 for wearing 'inappropriate footwear'? hahaha (new rules),” Kate posted at that time.

However, Pietersen was happy to come back to Australia for the Big Bash League.

“Anyway, it’s soooooo cool being back in Aus! I know so many wonderful people here! Can’t wait to see you all over the next month,” the sportsman tweeted.
