Kate Middleton's "sartorial elegance" have been rocking our world since she joined the Royal Family in 2011. She has had a major impact upon British fashion which has been termed the "Kate Middleton effect", and in 2012, was selected as one of The 100 Most Influential People in the World by Time.

On 3 December 2012, St James's Palace announced that the Duchess was expecting her first child. On 22 July 2013, she gave birth to Prince George of Cambridge. She has demonstrated a keen eye for knowing what suits her and dressing for the occasion, similar to Princess Diana.

StyleinView.co.uk has conducted a poll of 2,000 people to find out who they considered the fashion icons of today and of all time , Kate Middleton THE DUCHESS OF CAMBRIDGE HAS BEEN VOTED THE 'FASHION ICON OF TODAY', and PRINCESS DIANA ' FASHION ICONS OF ALL TIME'.

Her pre-baby , maternity and post baby wardrobe won the accolades for style and fashion throughout the globe so it comes as no surprise to hear the Duchess of Cambridge has been crowned THE MOST INSPIRING FASHION ICON MOTHER - even if she did give birth just two weeks ago. Yes, it seems the Kate Effect is stronger than ever as the royal, has been named as the star mother who gets most new mums hitting the shops.

Kate Middleton received overwhelming support in the poll carried out by fashion discount website FashionPerks.co.uk which asked its customers to vote for the most - and least inspiring - celebrity mothers when it comes to style. She might have only been seen once or twice in her new mum gear but apparently that's all it takes. 'It's testament to how dearly the British public hold the Duchess of Cambridge to their hearts,' said the website's Max Bramwell. 'She's only been a mother for a matter of weeks, and had barely been seen in public since the birth, yet people are still drawing on her example for inspiration.'

Indeed, there's been a surge in sales of polka dot dresses after Kate stepped out in that adorable Jenny Packham dress when unveiling her son to the world. And even Prince George is proving to be a style icon - at just three days old, he was already making his own impact on the retail world by causing a stampede for the swaddle he was wrapped in.

ANGELINA JOLIE landed in the top five thanks to her simple and chic ensembles as did, Amanda Holden. Meanwhile KIM KARDASHIAN made both the best AND worst dressed lists due to her opinion-splitting pre-baby wardrobe - although the fact she hasn't yet been seen in public since giving birth to baby Nori means she might surprise us yet.
