Roger, the 200-pound kangaroo, gained public attention when a video of the muscular animal crushing a metal bucket became viral on YouTube in 2015. The roo gained fame because of his hunky appearance as if he works out in the gym every day.

The bulky marsupial serves as the come-on of the kangaroo sanctuary’s guided sunset tours, not only because of Roger’s outstanding physique. Like a true hunk and muscleman, Roger loves to pose for the camera, notes The Telegraph.

His photo crushing the metal bucket, posted in January on the sanctuary’s Facebook page, got more than 4,000 likes, was shared more than 800 times and elicited almost 400 comments, focusing on Roger’s bulging muscles. One commenter says seeing the animal’s bulk explains why no one wins a fight with a kangaroo. Another thinks the roo must have drank a lot of protein shakes to explain his bulk.

What’s interesting about Roger, which could explain his alpha male characteristics, is that he was not raised by a female kangaroo. Chris “Brolga” Barnes, his carer, is the kangaroo’s surrogate parent who rescued Roger from his dead mum’s pouch in 2006 and raised him by hand. As a result, Roger has become human-like, including developing “defined triceps and muscles.”

Roger acts as the protector of female kangaroos in the bush, hence, the need to develop abilities like professional human kickboxers and wrestlers, complete with the required muscles.

Saving joeys is something that Brolga is used to. On Jan 30, he found a dead kangaroo on the road, hit by a vehicle. The baby roo did not have milk for a few days when the sanctuary carer found it. He immediately wrapped it in a Black Jaguar white tiger T-shirt to mimic the warmth that a kangaroo’s pouch gives to its young.
