Republican presidential hopeful Donald Trump has always been on the receiving end of the backlash for his antics and is facing a lot of criticism this time too for his alleged lies. Trump took to Twitter on Saturday to announce that he has turned down the offer to appear on “Last Week Tonight” with John Oliver. However, Oliver has now announced that Trump was never invited on the show.

The billionaire tweeted to the US political website The Hill, to announce that he has said “No thanks” to the invite sent by John Oliver to be on his show.

“Last Week Tonight” replied to Trump’s claims a day later on its Twitter handle.

This post was later retweeted by the show’s host John Oliver to dismiss the claims made by Trump. Some Twitter users consider Trump’s claim to be a publicity stunt and some have slammed the Republican presidential hopeful for fabricating things.

Trump has constantly been in the news because of his controversial comments. His latest remark was made last week while speaking at a rally in New Hampshire. He said that women who wear burkas in the Middle East don't need to wear any makeup.

"Fact is, it's easy. You don't have to put on makeup, look how beautiful everyone looks. Wouldn't it be easier? Right? Wouldn't that be easy?" Trump asked the audience at the rally. He even joked that he would wear one himself if he were a woman, according to a report from People.

Below are some reactions from Twitter about Trump's comments on burkas.

Trump was also called out for using the tracks of various musicians, including R.E.M. in his election campaigns without permission, according to Rolling Stone. He used the band's song "It's the End of the World as We Know It (And I Feel Fine)," during a rally in Washington, D.C. in September.

The 58th quadrennial U.S. presidential election is scheduled on Tuesday, Nov. 8, 2016. "The Apprentice" reality TV host and real estate developer's announcement on June 16 that he was running for president shocked the world. The other Republican Party candidates include Pennsylvania Senator Rick Santorum, Florida Senator Marco Rubio and Hewlett-Packard CEO Carly Fiorina.

Donald Trump, aka "The Donald," will make an appearance on “Saturday Night Live” ("SNL") on Nov. 7, according to Deadline. This will be his second stint on the show. He hosted "SNL" back in Apri 2004.
