"Vampire Diaries" stars Ian Somerhalder and Nina Dobrev may have reunited briefly but it appears to be an awkward one during the CW Upfront Event held in New York City. The ex-lovers appeared at the promotional event for their hit TV series with network president Mark Pedowitz but reports claim that tension was in the air.

At the red carpet, the 34-year-old heartthrob actor and the 24-year-old brunette beauty walked separately before stepping on the stage to join Mark Pedowitz. The network president was standing between Ian and Nina during the photography session and the two reportedly looked a little uneasy.

"They flanked him on each side, said hi to the audience and walked off stage, leaving Mark to deliver his address to advertisers. As they walked off stage, Nina was a stride or two ahead of Ian," an unnamed insider revealed to Us Weekly.

Another unidentified source claimed that Ian and Nina's recent appearance together was completely different compared to last year. "In 2012, they looked like any young couple in love and this time it was all business. They couldn't wait to get out of there. Ian told the fans he was running late and only stopped to sign one autograph," the source shared.

However, other reports are contradicting the awkward reunion of Ian Somerhalder and Nina Dobrev during the event. A couple of sources confirmed that even though they ended their 3-year relationship, Ian and Nina still talk to each other and decided to remain good friends.

"Nina and Ian were side by side and chatted with each other briefly before they all left the stage. They seemed friendly and not awkward at all," the insider stated. A Perez Hilton source further added: "There's no bad blood between them. There was no other person involved or any big fight. They still talk daily."

Meanwhile, Ian Somerhalder appears distracted from his split with Nina Dobrev. The actor shared an image on Instagram that show his "new baby" with the message that reads: "She's waiting for me on the show room floor-going to pull my Airstream and get me into the woods!"

Do not be broken-hearted female fans because it turns out that Ian's "new baby" is the Audi Q5 Hybrid. "Thank you Kevin Fenner &everyone at Audi & Jim Ellis Audi Marietta. I honestly miss the chill warm life in Georgia," the actor stated.
