Hugh Jackman only has the 2017 film “Wolverine 3,” before he finally hangs his claws playing as the mutant Logan a.k.a. Wolverine. Jackman recently revealed that it was actually Jerry Seinfeld who convinced him to quit portraying the Marvel character.

Hugh Jackman talked about his stint as the Wolverine during this week’s guest appearance at Live with Kelly and Michael. When discussing about the reasons for his decision to quit being Wolverine, Hugh Jackman revealed that legendary comedian Jerry Seinfeld had a role to play in his decision to give up his character.

“I was having a chat with him about a year ago at his birthday, and he was talking about why he finished the end of the series and how it was riding high,” Jackman started. “And he said he just always had this feeling, a belief that you never know when either your energy or the audience's energy is going to dip over into, 'Please go!' He said you should finish on a high note,” he added.

The Australian star said that while Seinfeld was still talking, he suddenly had a “this is it” moment where he finally realised that it was time for him to let go of Wolverine. However, instead of feeling regret or sadness, per Cinema Blend the decision pushed Hugh Jackman to pour out all of his energy playing the character into his last film. In the same interview, Live with Kelly and Michael, Jackman said his decision to quit being Wolverine gave him “the greatest feeling” and made him more excited to work on “Wolverine 3.”

Hugh Jackman first portrayed the mutant Logan a.k.a. Wolverine in Bryan Singer’s 2000 film “X-Men.” He was cast for the role in 1999. He has since played the Marvel character for a total of 17 years. “Wolverine 3” would be his last performance as the claw-wielding mutant and until then Fox still has time to decide whether to cast another actor for the role. According to Screenrant, the studio had previously considered casting a new and younger actor to portray Wolverine in “X-Men: Days of Future Past.” However, that never happened.
