Three weeks before the 2016 Mobile World Congress, Huawei started sending out invites to a press event scheduled on Feb. 21. The press conference will be held at Barcelona's Montjuïc Exhibition Centre, a day before the main event kicks off.

"Come see how Huawei continues to meet the demands of the next generation of mobile innovation," reads the invite of Huawei.

The event will be primarily hosted by Richard Yu, Chief Executive Officer, Huawei Consumer Business Group along with other Huawei executives, states the invite. The company is expected to launch its newest devices at the biggest mobile trade show in the world.

Previous rumours indicated that Huawei will unveil the next generation of P-series devices at the MWC 2016. But latest speculations suggest that the company will hold its own independent event few weeks after the trade show to introduce the P9 family, just like the P8 launch in 2015, reports 9to5Google.

Huawei P9 is believed to come in four variants - a giant screen P9max, a regular P9, a pocket-friendly P9lite and a “feature-enhanced” version which falls between the regular P9 and P9max. The fourth version will apparently offer more RAM and internal storage space. The device will also sport a unique dual-lens and dual-sensor 12-megapixel rear camera unit.

Huawei just announced two brand new variants of the Huawei Watch at the CES 2016. Thus, it is unlikely that the company would come up with another generation of smartwatch at the MWC 2016. It is worth mentioning that LG and Samsung are also slated to hold event on the same day.

Both Huawei Watch Jewel and Watch Elegant models are available in Australia and New Zealand. At the CES 2016, the company also announced the launch of its much appreciated Mate 8 across Europe, Australia, the Middle East, South-east China and South Africa.
