The last four months have seen the release of high-end flagships by Samsung, LG, Xiaomi, Huawei and HTC. The much awaited HTC 10 is now official and will take on Samsung Galaxy S7, LG G5, Xiaomi Mi5 and Huawei P9.

Here’s comparison of release date, price , specs and features of the HTC 10 with Samsung’s Galaxy S7, one of its most critical rivals in the market.

Price and Release date :

Starting May 3, the recently announced HTC 10 will be available in Australia at a lower price point as compared to Galaxy S7. Both JB Hi-Fi and Harvey Norman will sell the HTC 10 at AU$1099, as reported by Gizmodo.

At the same time, major Australian carriers including Telstra, Optus, Vodafone and Virgin Mobile will also offer the HTC 10.

Samsung’s Galaxy S7 is already on sale in Australia through the aforementioned carriers. For those who wish to buy outright, the Galaxy S7 will cost AU$1,149.

In related news, the LG G5 will also be available for purchase in Australia from May 3.

Display and Design

The HTC 10 touts a full metal unibody design with a curved glass front panel and features chamfered edges on both the rear and the front. The device sports a 5.2-inch Super LCD 5 display screen with Quad HD resolution.

The smartphone will be offered in Gray, Gold, Silver and Red colour variants.

Samsung’s Galaxy S7 adorns a design much similar to its predecessor, the Galaxy S6. The handset sports a Super AMOLED 5.1-inch QHD display panel with a resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels. Moreover, there is also a new ‘Always-on’ display for quick notifications.

The smartphone has a bigger sibling with slightly overhauled specs and features. Additionally, the IP68 certified Samsung Galaxy S7 is fully water and dust resistant.

Both the HTC 10 and Samsung Galaxy S7 house a fingerprint scanner on the front panel.

Processor and Memory

The HTC 10, just like LG G5 is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 820 SoC. Samsung, on the other hand, has opted for a unique marketing strategy and launched the Galaxy S7 with different processors in different markets.

For the international markets, the Galaxy S7 is equipped with Samsung’s octa-core Exynos 8890 processor, whereas for the US and Chinese market, the company has roped in Snapdragon 820 SoC.

Both the HTC 10 and Galaxy S7 house a generous 4GB of RAM and come with two storage options – 32GB and 64GB and carries support for microSD card slot for memory expansion.

Camera and Battery

With the Galaxy S7, the Korean tech giant has introduced its first-ever Dual Pixel camera smartphone, which is said to deliver “brighter and sharper images even in low light.”

The camera unit features a 12-megapixel main camera sensor with f/1.7 aperture, accurate auto-focus in low light conditions and faster shutter speed. The 5MP front-facing camera sensor is capable of making dual-video calls.

HTC’s latest flagship also sports a 12 MP rear-facing camera unit equipped with a dual-LED flash. There is also a 5MP selfie snapper. Both the cameras support the feature of optical image stabilisation.

Both the HTC 10 and Samsung Galaxy S7 host huge 3,000mAh battery units and shipped with Marshmallow pre-installed.
