The latest teaser video of “Homeland” Season 5 features F. Murray Abraham, Mandy Patinkin, Claire Danes, and it focus on the charcter who plays both sides of the fence, Dar Adal.

In the clip, Abraham, who plays Adal, says that for his character, his work is his entire life. “He sees what is happening in this word and is trying so desperately to make it better, and use destructive means to do that,” he adds.

The actor says that his character is approaching cynicism, and a cynic should not be involved with the kind of operation that he is involved with. The actor, however, has no clue where his character is going, and he finds that exciting.

Patinkin, who plays Saul, says that his character and Adal have an “unspoken pact” to keep the true nature of their relationship under wraps. Abraham describes Saul and Adal's connection as "very strong" and "real." This is because their commitment is to the cause.

Abraham also says that Saul and Adal have to be "suspicious" people, and Patinkin chips in, "their strength comes in their ability to misdirect everyone’s focus."

Meanwhile, Danes, who plays Carrie Mathison, feels that Saul has been dealing with a “devil.” Her character, like everyone else on the show, is unaware about Saul and Adal's strong connection.

The much-awaited new season of “Homeland” picks two years after the events of previous season finale. After years of working on the front lines, Carrie, who is estranged from CIA and has relocated to Germany, struggles to “reconcile her guilt and disillusionment” in Season 5.

“The first episode’s going to real deal with Russia, being right next to Russia,” Showtime president David Nevins said (via Salon). He believes that the new season’s themes will “resonate” with the viewers.

“It’s interesting to this season that brings a lot of things together. As long as they keep it fresh, it’s a show that’s never the same season after season,” Nevins said.

"Homeland" Season 5 premieres on Oct. 04 in the U.S.
