The “Hawaii Five-0” crew has been dutiful in its efforts in giving top notch protection to the citizenry, while solving tough mysteries as it goes on. However, many times, finding their way out of tight situations might call for some help from crafty people who are better at it, notably those from “MacGyver.” It is also worth noting that the two reboots are produced by Peter Lenkov, who has serious plans of produce a crossover between both shows.

“MacGyver” and "Hawaii Five-0” have a lot of common elements but the most obvious is that they are both reboots and have the same executive producer. This only means that a crossover between both shows is not that far from happening.

When asked by TV Insider about it, Lenkov easily admitted that he already had plans for a crossover. He also reveals that he took a shot out of the MacGyver pilot in a flashback to Jack (George Eads) in Afghanistan. The shot was of a the saddle of his gun where the word “Aloha” appears quite subtly and the idea they wished to convey was that he knew McGarett (Alex O’Loughlin) in the military. He wants to take advantage of this element and somehow do a crossover.

While these plans of a crossover might excite a lot of fans, it could be quite a challenge since “MacGyver” is still starting while “Hawaii Five-0” is already quite advanced. However, if it can be established sooner or later that these shows exist in the same universe, then both can easily converge in a crossover. A show with problem solving issues like “Hawaii Five-0” could surely use some help from the genius hackers and problem solvers at “MacGyver.”

As for “Hawaii Five-0,” the story continues to heat up as one of the most successful reboots ever on TV still has quite a huge fan base after 7 seasons. Despite Alex O’Loughlin’s announcement that he will be departing the show after its 8th season, Lenkov stands firm to his belief that the show can still attract viewers for the years to come.

MacGyver” airs every Friday at 8|7 CST. “Hawaii Five-0” also airs Fridays at 9|8 CST on CBS.
