After many years of watching the Marvel Cinematic Universe build up the powerhouse franchise that it is today, it looks like it is now time for long-time rival DC Comics to catch up. Together with Warner Bros, the company has entered into an incredible journey that started off in 2013 with the release of “Man of Steel” and continued with “Batman v. Superman.” In 2017, DC plans to make its biggest project yet – uniting all previous efforts with the release of the “Justice League.”

The trailer for “Justice League” teased the appearance of fan favourites including Wonder Woman, The Flash, Aquaman, and, of course, Batman and Superman. However, comic book and animated series fans know that there is more than just these names to the Justice League.

Comicbook.com says that viewers might be treated to much more than they are expecting now as they could see Green Lantern in movie. Not much is known about the current state of the Green Lantern franchise after Ryan Reynolds left the role to take on his Deadpool role. It could be that DC still has full rights over the franchise, or that their plans are in limbo.

Definitely, DC will not let the rights to a character as iconic as the Green Lantern just go to dust. After all, fans know Green Lantern to be an indispensable member of Justice League.

The rumors of Green Lantern appearing in next year’s “Justice League” movie spun off from actor Andre Gordon, who shared a picture of John Stewart’s Green Lantern. The post was suspiciously captioned “The pieces are coming together and it feels good!” along with several hashtags that point towards the actor being Green Lantern soon.

This is a perfect fit to previous rumours that have pointed towards many Green Lanterns from sector 2814 being in the DC film Universe and, eventually, a standalone Green Lantern Corps film. If these rumours are true then that means John Stewart could be the Green Lantern of the “Justice League,” even though most fans are still betting that it would be Hal Jordan. “Justice League” is set to out in theatres in 2017. It stars Ben Affleck, Gal Gadot, Jason Momoa, Henry Cavill and Ezra Miller.
