"H1Z1" features a crafting system that has given it an extra interesting spin as a post-apocalyptic, zombie-infested open-world survival title. This is considering that your survival can depend on well-crafted weapons and even well-built bases.

The developer of "H1Z1" has detailed the crafting system a bit, as it delves into the goals of crafting and the need for it, as detailed by senior game designer Paul Carrico in the latest blog post. According to Carrico, the main goal is to go back to the roots of scavenging while in the post-apocalyptic scenario. This means getting creative with whatever you can get your hands on and using it as a way to survive in the wild.

For the most part, it appears that starting players will need to go first with small-scale and basic survival needs, including food, water, medical items and campfire features. After this, they can then move on to bigger items, meaning weapons and bases.

What's great about "H1Z1" is that most of the items that you will find will have some form of use when crafting, while others even have multiple uses, so you need to make the appropriate call of where to use which item. Carrico even provided a couple of ways by which players can meld crafting with ordinary jobs. For instance, a player can craft a farm and start growing produce like corn and wheat, which can be used for food or ethanol. Those who love hunting or setting up animal traps can make their own array of not just fresh animal meat but also dried jerky for storage.

There are already a few recipes that can be produced in the game, with the developer still trying to add more as the game goes along. But even bigger news is that come the Early Access for "H1Z1," survivors should be able to create a lot of things. Carrico noted that some of the recipes may appear odd, but as the game goes into Early Access and beyond, the developer plans to add a more sensible crafting experience for "H1Z1" players.

Over at the "H1Z1" Reddit, there's another development in the form of a fan-made website. Redditor GxArn has provided a link for his project, a fansite, which can be accessed here.

Since fans are regularly monitoring the "H1Z1" the progress of the Reddit page, there have already been comments and suggestions to improve the fansite. Mostly, the fans are expressing their appreciation for the fansite.

"Great work. I know what it means to support a game with a fan site and the work, effort, time and everything else associated with making a fan site. Looks really good and easy to navigate," Redditor Hurricane43 said.

There are some who have also provided constructive criticism in order to improve the site. "Awesome site. The only criticism I have is that 'H1Z1 Live' can't be seen sometimes because the moon in the background hides it," said Redditor eeeeVeeee.

Check out the "H1Z1" fansite in the link above. The link to the Reddit page is also provided above, in case you want to leave the creator a word of thanks or some comments for improvement.
