In the episodes leading to “The Good Wife” Season 6 finale, Alicia won the election for the Office of the State’s Attorney. However, her own political party successfully pushed her in a corner in order to protect a senator. She left the seat even before she could take it. Alicia, Diane and Cary were working out the details of her return in the firm, but billionaire R.D. threatened to walk out if Alicia returns to the firm. This is how Alicia wound up jobless.

Alicia started making plans for the future. She would take only the cases in which she wholeheartedly believes. She asked Finn to come on board with her. He agreed. But after winning their first case, Finn decided it’s not good for them to work together. Earlier, Finn said he was in the process of repairing his marriage.

Over at Florrick, Agos, Lockhart and Associates (likely to become Agos, Lockhart, Lee and Associates), the Board discovered that the wife of their nemesis, Louis Canning, was one of their recently hired employees. She used her maiden name during the application process, saying she wanted to get the job not as Canning’s wife. The Board decided there was a conflict of interest there. Mrs Canning was fired.

The incident involving his wife at Alicia’s former firm made Canning very upset. At the very last moment of “The Good Wife” Season 6 finale, Louis Canning speaks to Alicia Florrick and echoes to her the title of the episode: “Wanna partner?”

“The Good Wife” Season 7 is expected to premiere in the final quarter of 2015.
