Season 2 Episode 23 of “The Flash” will serve as the finale. After getting his speed back and having his father killed by Zoom (Teddy Sears), Barry (Grant Gustin) will finally have a huge showdown with the evil speedster.

Spoiler alert! This article contains “The Flash” spoilers. Read on if you would like to know what happens next before the new episode airs.

The episode synopsis states that after Zoom reveals his true plan, Barry will promise to stop at nothing to take him down. The episode, titled “The Race of His Life,” was written by Aaron Helbing and Todd Helbing and directed by Antonio Negret.

Grant Gustin said that he was emotional and affected by the Season 2 finale. The episode will pick up exactly where the previous episode left off, so he really has nothing to say.

According to ComicBook.com, Grant Gustin said that his character will find a way to deal with all the terrible things that he went through during the season. Previously, Barry witnessed his father being murdered by Zoom. He was also betrayed by his friend and mentor and lost his powers for some time. All the emotional troubles that the character has been through may have removed his optimism in saving the world.

Gustin, however, promised that The Flash will remain optimistic about future things. He is still unaware of the Season 3 storyline, but he assured viewers that the creators Berlanti, Geoff and Kreisberg know how important it is for the superhero speedster to stay positive. He revealed that Barry’s entire perspective on life will continue to progress with his life. His past tragedies will help him deal with the current ones better.

More about the relationship between Zoom and Barry may be revealed in the last episode. The backgrounds of both characters have been delved into in past episodes and the audience have been curious about Zoom’s true intentions, as to why he kept toying with the team. His real motives will finally be revealed in “The Race of His Life.” The final showdown will also determine whether Barry is strong and fast enough to finally conquer his archrival.

The Season 2 finale of “The Flash” will air on May 24 on The CW. It will also air on Fox8 in Australia. More updates and details are expected soon.
