The announcement of the official cast for the "Fifty Shades of Grey" film adaptation yielded negative feedback. Fans were the least bit pleased with the casting choices that an online petition had sparked. Nonetheless, producers remain rooted with their choices even mentioning the qualities they searched for in their stars. Apparently, producers claimed Matt Bomer, the strongest contender for Christian Grey role, had no talent, availability and desire for the part.

Following the announcement by E.L. James over Twitter, outraged tweets sparked online. Almost every reader was disappointed with the casting of Charlie Hunnam as Christian Grey and Dakota Johnson as Anastasia Steele. An online petition against the choices had already been started on Change.org. Fans want Matt Bomer and Alexis Bledel to replace the lead stars.

"Matt Bomer is the PERFECT DESCRIPTION OF CHRISTIAN GREY AND ALEXIS BLEDEL IS THE PERFECT ACTRESS TO REPRESENT ANASTASIA STEELE and if THEY ARE NOT, NOBODY WILL BE And I read the whole trilogy and I can assure that Matt is the perfect actor for this movie and Alexis too. So please PLEASE, all of the GREYsessed and Bomerettes in the world NEED those actors. They always will be for us the Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele. WE CAN DO ANYTHING GUYS, ANYTHING," states the petition.

Almost 18,000 signatures have been counted and the number is still rising. Of course, the petition is likely to change anything given both the author and the production studio reiterated their confidence in both actors. As for producer Dana Brunetti, Dana defended Charlie and Dakota against the fan favourite chosen by fans.

"There is a lot that goes into casting that isn't just looks. Talent, availability, their desire to do it, chemistry with other actor, etc," stated Dana, later adding, "So if your favorite wasn't cast, then it is most likely due to something on that list. Keep that in mind while hating and keep perspective."

Would this mean that Matt Bomer, who had constantly been eyed by fans for the part of Christian Grey, had no talent to become Christian Grey, had no availability for the film and desire to be in "Fifty Shades of Grey?" Fans of Bomer would say otherwise of course. If the chance does arise that recasting would occur, would producer Dana Brunetti and author E.L. James give Matt Bomer a second glance for the part of Christian Grey?
