Aside from losing "Vampire Diaries" Ian Somerhalder for the iconic part, one other actor is also out of the running. "On the Road" fans hoping to see Garrett Hedlund star as Christian Grey in the upcoming film adaptation of "Fifty Shades of Grey" won't likely get what they're asking for. Despite being "greatly considered" for the film, Hedlund has passed on the chance claiming it's too big of a commitment.

Fans of E.L. James best-selling erotica novel are slowly losing interest in the film adaptation with two of the strongest contenders out of the running. Earlier this week, Ian Somerhalder of "The Vampire Diaries" has been announced to be officially out of the running for the iconic role of Christian Grey. Despite Ian's strongest efforts on various social media platforms for the role, E.L. James had flatly stated in an interview at Comic Con that the part "would not go to Ian."

Aside from "The Vampire Diaries" star, the role of Christian Grey isn't likely to be handed out to "On the Road's" Garrett Hedlund as well. So those expecting of another steamy scene between Hedlund and Kristen Stewart shouldn't get their hopes up. While Ian hadn't been considered for the role, it's obvious that Garrett was. Yet, Garrett was the one to pass off the coveted part due to "commitment" issues.

"Doing a possible trilogy was too big a commitment, and producers wouldn't let him do just one film," says a source to US Weekly.

Two of the fan favourites for the part of Christian Grey are definitely out for the running which leaves Matt Bomer and Henry Cavill in a neck-to-neck fight for the part. Of course, a few other Hollywood hunks are up for the role as well. The question is who would E.L. James choose to play Christian Grey?
