“The Fate of the Furious” TV was unveiled during Super Bowl 2017 recently. Universal Studios reportedly spent the highest amount on a TV ad for the flick.

The studio spent US$10.46 million (AU$13.63 million) on the advertisement for two national airings on Fox as well as Fox Deportes, according to Variety. The ad was aired during the Super Bowl 2017 unlike many other ads, which aired during the pre-game show.

The second spot in the same category has been taken by Walt Disney Pictures for “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales” ad. The studio spent about US$8 million (AU$10.4 million) on a single advertisement for the flick.

This is not the first time that “The Fate of the Furious” has set record. The first trailer of the thriller flick also set record when it released in December last year. The trailer garnered 139 million views in just 24 hours and became the most viewed trailer worldwide. It outdid Disney’s “Beauty and the Beast,” which garnered 127.6 million views on first day of its release.

The last flick in the franchise “Furious 7” minted a jaw-dropping US$1.5 billion (AU$2 billion) worldwide. The movie became the first in the franchise to collect more than US$1 billion (AU$ 1.3 billion).

Furthermore, the flick is garnering a lot of attention for being the first one to release after Paul Walker’s death. Fans will surely miss their favorite actor in the movie. For the eighth chapter, the makers have added new characters as well. Scott Eastwood, who will essay the role of a law enforcement agent working under Petty is new to the cast. Furthermore, Charlize Theron (Cipher) and Helen Mirren (in an undisclosed role) have been confirmed to be joining the flick.

Another interesting aspect of the movie that has caught the attention of fans is Dominic "Dom" Toretto (Vin Diesel) betraying his family. For the first time, Dom will be seen going against his crew. However, why that will happen hasn’t been revealed yet.

The trailer and the new ad has shown that Deckard Shaw (Jason Statham) will be recruited to collaborate with the rest of the crew in order to take Dom down. Sean Boswell (Lucas Black), who appeared in “The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift,” is also returning for "Furious 8."

“The Fate of the Furious” will be released in Australia on April 12. In the US, the flick will hit the screens on April 14.
