“Strong,” a never heard before Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez's duet, leaked on Drake's OVO Sound Radio on Saturday. It took many by surprise and left the listeners wondering if the exes have hooked up again.

The song, however, was taken down soon. Entertainment Tonight reported that "Strong" was recorded years ago when these singing sensations were still seeing each other, and it is not a new number as the listeners thought. This song was never meant to be released and will not appear in any album.

Many see the release of “Strong” as a publicity stunt to gain mileage, as it was first played more than a week after Gomez’s album “Revival” release, and less than three weeks before the release date of Bieber’s latest album “Purpose.”

The lyrics of “Strong” convey the problems that Bieber and Gomez faced while they were a couple. The song apparently addresses the differences they had during their fou-year relationship.

Bieber recently opened up about Gomez during an interview with Complex Magazine. He said, “‘My identity was in her. Her identity was in me."

"We were so in love. Nothing else mattered. We were all about each other. But when it's like that and you get your value from that, people will always disappoint you."

Meanwhile, Gomez, who calls Bieber her first love, has not ruled out the possibility of them getting back together. In Elle’s October issue she too opened up about her ex.

She said, "I'll forever support him and love him in a way that ... We grew up together. I think people want it to be different. We're too young for that. Nobody was married."

"I respect him. And I think he respects me, in a healthy manner,” she added.

Bieber’s “Purpose” is scheduled to release on Nov.13.
