The TIME 100 list of top most influential people has some surprise entries in 2015. “Harry Potter” actress Emma Watson and “Yeezus” rapper Kanye West are included in the list, along with Bradley Cooper, Reese Witherspoon, President Barack Obama and more. Watson, who is involved in her work as the United Nations Women's ambassador, bagged the spot in the “pioneers” section of the list.

New York Times editor Jill Abramson has appreciated Watson for launching a #HeForShe campaign, a gender equality movement that has many supporters. The actress not only gave influential speeches on various occasions but she also spearheaded the cause on the social media; despite facing stark criticism from various sections of the society. Watson's HeForShe speech at Davos became a huge hit on social media but it also drew criticism from “typical antifeminist” and even “some threats,” Abramson wrote on TIME adding that the actress however “chose to highlight the moving letters she has received from fathers who tell her they are investing new hope in the future for their daughters.”

Meanwhile, West was chosen on the list for not believing in “false modesty.” Writing about him in the magazine, Tesla CEO Elon Musk said that West "would be the first person to tell you he belongs on this list." "The dude doesn’t believe in false modesty, and he shouldn’t. Kanye’s belief in himself and his incredible tenacity – he performed his first single with his jaw wired shut – got him to where he is today. And he fought for his place in the cultural pantheon with a purpose," Musk is quoted as saying in the magazine.

West's reality television wife Kim Kardashian West was also among the Top 100 influential people list by TIME. The 34-year-old “Keeping Up With The Kardashians” star was chosen by Martha Stewart, who calls her “a media phenomenon” with 29 million followers on Instagram and 31 million followers on Twitter. She also wrote that Kim is “beautiful in an exotic, totally exaggerated way” and “exudes energy, sexuality, drama, determination, impetuousness and happiness.” Some of the other artists on the list are Chris Pratt, Amy Schumer, Julianna Margulies, Alexander Wang, Audra McDonald, Julianne Moore.
