Marvel co-president Louis D’Esposito has tweeted some interesting pictures from the set of the upcoming “Doctor Strange” film lately. On Wednesday, D’Esposito posted a picture of “Spider-Man” actor Tom Holland on the set of “Doctor Strange.”

On December 14, D’Esposito also posted a photo of a mystical looking set where Benedict Cumberbatch supposedly wore his supreme sorcerer costume.

The former photo has served as the sparkplug to a flurry of speculations regarding the appearance of the web-slinging hero in “Doctor Strange.” ScreenRant suggests there might be an upcoming superhero team up between Doctor Stephen Strange and Peter Parker. Afterall, Strange was a world-class surgeon before he became the Sorcerer Supreme. In the comic books and cartoon series, Spider-Man has fought side by side with Doctor Strange.

Marvel previously released a statement that the new “Spider-Man” film under Marvel Studios’ will not be another version of the character’s origin story unlike the predecessor films under Sony. Therefore, it is entirely possible that Spider-Man will cross paths with Doctor Strange before he becomes the crime fighting-vigilante of New York City.

Marvel is no stranger to superhero teams forming in big screens. Even the solo films of the “Avengers” team members feature a wingman to the lead character. In fact, in the upcoming “Thor: Ragnarok,” Chris Hemsworth’s Thor will get help from Mark Ruffalo’s Hulk.

Earlier this month, the trailer for “Captain America: Civil War” dropped without Spider-Man. We Got This Covered now speculates that the latter will debut in “Doctor Strange.”

Note that none of these theories have officially been confirmed by Marvel. There is also the possibility that this was just a friendly visit from Holland. That being said, should he make an appearance in the film, it is likely that his role will be small and will not impact the larger narrative.

“Doctor Strange” opens on November 4, 2016.
