Shock and panic, the secret weapons of Resident Evil: Revelations

In the latest developer diaries for Resident Evil: Revelations, programmer Go Ozawa and main composer Kota Suzuki share their thoughts on how shock and panic can be a driving feature of the game.

According to Game Informer, this developer diary follows the first, which looks at the entire series, while the second one was all about the viruses.

"In Revelations, you'll get a different experience every time you play. Even when exploring areas you've been in before, there are new discoveries and surprises, like enemies appearing in different places than before," said Ozawa.

"I have to play it during the course of my work to check things, but I still find myself getting into the game as a player and jumping in surprise! I think this is one of the best features of the game."

The music is also an entire subject in itself, as it is used as a medium to not only bring the monsters and characters to life, but also provide the tone for the game.

"The horror plays off the exploration of claustrophobic environment with limited resources," said Suzuki. "The more restrained horror style is a big part of the horror aspect of the game."

Catch Resident Evil: Revelations, up for release on May 21 for the PS3, Xbox 360, and Wii U.
