Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag is leaning towards the dark side, with explorations of sex, indulgence, and penance, at least based on its trailer and lead scriptwriter Darby McDevitt.

In an interview with Polygon, McDevitt says that the heart of the story is about one of sin and repentance, mainly because its lead character is one who is plagued with such conflicting ideas and an even strained relationship with his wife and other women in his journey.

"Edward Kenway is a raucous and bawdy chap, but he's also a married man, and one of his primary motivation in Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag is to get rich and prove himself a 'man of quality' to his family and betters," said McDevitt to Polygon. "So there is a special woman in Edward's life, but there are also other not-so-special women as well."

What's different about this approach is that the seduction is not just stuck in the plot, but weaved into the gameplay, wherein you can make use of the women to seduce yoru target.

Before you say sexist, it's more of a decision-making strategy rather than seduce-and-use, particularly given Edward's already conflicted background. And it's not like Edward will only be there for the bedding, as PoIygon reports that there are some punctuated relationships that he has with his other women that are significant than just a one-night stand.

Watch out for Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag on October 29 for all platforms, PS3, Xbox 360, PC, and Wii U. Or you can catch the trailer here.
