Footballer Cristiano Ronaldo is the cover of GQ January 2016 issue, together with Alessandra Ambrosio, a Victoria’s Secret angel. GQ reveals that it did not have to Photoshop the abs of the Real Madrid player.

His six-pack did not need any digital enhancement, unlike sultry and sexy singer Beyonce whose cover photo, GQ admits, was Photoshopped, reports The Telegraph. Just to show how impressive Ronaldo’s midsection is, in an online survey made by the British daily, among five of his body parts, the footballer’s washboard abs topped the choices.

His abs was number 1 with 33 percent of the votes, followed by heart (28 percent), feet (19 percent), legs (14 percent) and teeth (6 percent). But the five-time Ballon d’Or trophy awardee was not born with such enviable physique.

He worked hard at it, and GQ promised to share the works outs that the Portuguese athlete did a well as his diet in the next few days. The sportsmen and model is the envy of many men because of his achievements and “Nobel Prize for Physical Perfection” body that his statue in Funchal, the footballer’s hometown, a fan of Lionel Messi wrote the other famous football player’s name and number on the back of the statue.

Ronaldo used to be a skinny kid, but hard work, diet and discipline over the years changed that. In his Web site, the athlete lists his six daily workout routine. These are:

  • 3-4 hours of daily practice to reach a very low body fat level of less than 10 percent
  • 25-30 minutes of running for state cardio
  • High intensity and “explosive” sprinting drills
  • Technical drills to enhance skills and ball control
  • Football tactical exercises
  • Gym exercises to develop specific muscles and keep total body strength.

As for specific ab exercises, the soccer great’s first advice is to work to keep body fat levels at 10 percent. Exercises such as planks and renegade rows improve core strength and reduce abdominal fat more than regular crunches. He does 3,000 sit ups daily, which he sometimes do while watching TV.
