“Call me Captain Marvel,” says the gorgeous Brie Larson in a very brief post which had fans of the comics on fire just recently. The tweet came with a picture of the actress playfully sporting a Marvel Studios cap.

The first reply to the tweet appears to be from no other but another Captain himself, Chris Evans, who appears to be even more excited than Marvel fans after the confirmation. These one-liners set Twitter ablaze and immediately trended.

Before that, Marvel already confirmed at the San Diego Comic Con that “Kong: Skull Island” star is going to portray Captain Marvel. That announcement delighted every single fan, especially as the character is one of the most important in the Marvel multiverse.

The Oscar0winning actress has been rumoured to be portraying the powerful Captain Marvel since the movie was first announced. It was not initially clear if the upcoming movie would feature the superhero as a woman; at least not until Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige said that he wanted the hero’s name to be Carol Danvers, says a post on CNN.

While not so much of a classic Marvel character that children from the 90s idolised, Captain Marvel is one of the most loved characters for those who have been diligently following the comic books. She is considered one of the most strong and powerful characters in the Marvel Universe and is often compared by her fans to DC’s Superman.

Captain Marvel was featured in the comic books as Captain America’s adversary in one of Marvel’s biggest comic book projects yet,” Civil War II,” where she leads a large team of Marvel superheroes. The character, while it has many versions, has the most universal portrayal as a beautiful woman in a skin-tight blue and red suit. Her superpowers include flight, superhuman strength, and the ability to shoot rays from her hands.

“Captain Marvel” film is set to be showing on theatres in March 2019. Meanwhile, the soonest fans can see her is on "Kong: Skull Island" with Tom Hiddleston.
