It has been a difficult week for Canadian singer Celine Dion, after two of her loved ones died because of cancer.

On Thursday, Dion’s husband and former manager, Rene Angelil died at the age of 73. Angelil’s death came after a long and courageous battle against throat cancer, his representative told People. His funeral will be held on Friday in the Notre Dame basilica in Montreal, the same church where the couple married in 1994. Angelil became momentous with Dion’s career when he discovered the singer when she was just 12.

Two days after, Dion’s older brother Daniel also succumbed to cancer at 59 years old. He suffered from cancer of the throat, tongue and brain, according to an official statement released by Dion’s rep to E! News. Daniel was the eighth of 14 children.

Fellow singer Mariah Carey sent a touching message to Dion in Instagram. Carey posted a photo of Dion and Angelil with the caption, “I’m heartbroken for you and your family upon hearing the news about Rene. I know there’s nothing I can say to take the pain away but I’m sure the memories will comfort you now and always. My deepest condolences to you and your family. Love always, Mariah.”

Other celebrities took to Twitter their messages of condolences for Dion. Ariana Grande, who is popularly touted as the next Carey, wrote that her heart is breaking for Dion, and that she’s sending the love and prayers imaginable for the “My Heart Will Go On” singer.

Singer Gloria Gaynor also wrote in her Twitter that she’s praying for Dion and her family with their recent loss.

Condolences also went beyond the music industry, as actor Stephen Baldwin also tweeted about the news, wishing peace and blessings to Dion and quoting a bible verse.

TV host Kathie Lee Gifford, on the other hand, wrote, “Sending love and prayers to my friend and her family during this saddest of times.”
