Cara Delevingne says she felt as if she she grew up too fast because of her mom’s heroin addiction. She added that even though she grew up in a rich family, her mom’s heroin addiction left her broken.

In her cover interview with Vogue magazine, the “Paper Towns” actress shared that she grew up in an upper class background. As such, she grew up wherein parties and horse-racing were constant. Even though she believes that others can certainly find these activities fun, she personally did not enjoy it. However, the worse thing from her childhood is that her mom had, and continues to struggle with, heroin addiction.

According to the budding actress, having a mom with this condition forced her to grow up quickly, especially because she needed to parent her own parents. She said addictions of parents can naturally affect their children. She clarifies that this does not mean she loves her mother any less and that she believes her mom is a strong and loving person, her mom’s addiction certainly affected her own development.

She shared that as a teenager, she smoked pot herself a lot. She also went to a host of therapists, but none helped her be more stable. She is also cognizant of the fact that she has a fortunate life and she should feel luckier as opposed to being depressed and suicidal. The guilt ate her alive, she added. “ The worst thing was that I knew I was a lucky girl, and the fact that you would rather be dead . . . you just feel so guilty for those feelings, and it’s this vicious circle. Like, how dare I feel that way? So you just attack yourself some more,” she said.

While Cara offered a glimpse of how it is to live with a mom who had an addiction, her mom, Pandora Delevingne herself would share how it is to live with the addiction and be a party girl during the Eighties London circuit, as reported by the Evening Standard. Many are said to be hoping that she would also write about her model daughters, Poppy and Cara’s childhood lives.
